Please be aware that we are currently only translating the user interface for the app into English, meaning that all external content such as Mensa menus will remain in German.

    1. How do I receive my uni ID?

Newly enrolled students receive their uni ID on the application portal to download.

Already enrolled students should know their uni ID. If not, you can find all information about the Uni-ID on our website.

    2. I forgot the password for my uni ID.

On our website about the topic Uni-ID you can place a request for investigation or a request for a password change.

    3. When logging in with the uni ID, I get the error message 'Login failed'.

    There are two options here:

    Possibility no.1:

After activating your uni ID it can take up to 24 hours until the status of the uni ID synchronises with the Uni Bonn App. Please try again later.

    Possibility no.2:

Your Uni ID belongs to a user group that cannot login on the app. That concerns the following groups:

    • employees of the UKB
    • freelancing employees
    • guest listeners
    • minor secondary listeners
    • FFF-students
    • students from cooperations (e.g. BCGS or b-IT)

Please note: The login in the Uni Bonn App is only available for people whose uni-ID is connected to a student number/ employee number at the University of Bonn.

    1. How do I receive and where I can find my student ID?

You can find your student ID under "Wallet" in the Uni Bonn app as soon as you have logged in with your Uni ID.

    2. Can I get the student ID on paper?
The previous paper student ID card will no longer be issued from summer semester 2024. If you are unable or do not wish to use the app, you can print out a certificate of enrolment yourself at the Student Service.

    3. Can I retrieve my certificate of enrolment via the app?
In the app you will only find the student ID and the semester ticket. You can download and print out the certificate of enrolment from the Student Service.

    4. I don't have a smartphone or don't want to use the app. How do I get my student ID?
The use of the app is not mandatory. As an analogue alternative to the digital student ID, you can download and print out the certificate of enrolment from the Student Service.

If you require an alternative for the Deutschlandsemesterticket, please contact the Student Registry.

    5. I am both an employee and a student/doctoral candidate at the University of Bonn and only see my work/student ID card in the app.

To access the student ID card, you must log in with your student Uni-ID. Currently, it is only possible to log in either as a student or as an employee.

We are working on a multi-login function and hope to be able to integrate this into the app soon. As soon as the function is available, you will be able to log in with both Uni-IDs.

    6. I have re-registrated, but the student ID for the next semester is not displayed in the app.

The app contains up to three student ID cards: for the current semester, for the previous semester (if available) and for the next semester (if available). However, the (still) invalid student ID cards are automatically hidden. If you want to display these cards, click on the button with the hourglass symbol in the wallet.

    1. How long is the Deutschlandsemesterticket for the students valid?
Respectively from the semester start to the end of the semester (summer 01.04.-30-09.; winter 01.10.-31.03.).

    2. I can register in the app, but I don't see the "Deutschlandsemesterticket"
Not all students and registered persons enrolled at the University of Bonn are entitled to receive the Deutschlandsemesterticket (e.g. secondary listeners, continuing education students, students on leave of absence (depending on the reason for the leave of absence), guest students, employees).

If you have a status that entitles you to the Deutschlandsemesterticket, please check and note the following:

The Deutschlandsemesterticket for winter term 2024/2025 will be available from the beginning of September (valid from 1st October). Newly enrolled students will not be shown a ticket until then.

If you have more than one Uni-ID (e.g. because you are an employee and a student), please make sure that you have logged in with the student Uni-ID.
After enrolment and re-registration, it can take up to three working days for the current Deutschlandsemesterticket to be generated and transferred to the app. After this period, please log in to the app again if necessary.

If you still do not have access to the Deutschlandsemesterticket, please contact the Student Registry to clarify your status.

If you are authorised to receive a Deutschlandsemesterticket but the ticket is still not displayed, make sure that you have only used lower case letters when logging in and entering your Uni-ID.

Please also be aware that (still) invalid semester tickets (for example, for a semester that has not yet started) are automatically hidden. If you want to display these semester tickets, click on the button with the hourglass symbol in the wallet.

    3. What happens if I have no battery during a ticket control?
The same rules as usual apply. If you cannot show your ticket, a penalty fare is applied. You have the chance to subsquently prove that you did have a valid ticket. For that, the transport services take a processing fee.

    4. I don't have a smartphone or don't want to use the app. How do I get the Deutschlandsemesterticket?
The use of the app is not mandatory. As an analogue alternative to the digital student ID card, you can download and print out the certificate of enrolment from the Student Service

If you need an alternative for the Deutschlandsemesterticket, please contact the Student Registry.

    5. Does the digital student ID/ the confirmation of enrollment work as a Deutschlandsemesterticket?
No, that are two different forms of verification, which are therefore presented seperately on the app. The digital student ID verifies you as a student at the University of Bonn. To verify your travel authorisation you should only use the Deutschlandsemesterticket for students.

    6. Can I continue to take one person with me in the evenings and on weekends as with the Studi-Ticket from previous semesters?
No, with the introduction of the Deutschlandsemesterticket the former regulations are no longer applicable. Further information can be found on the AStA website.

    7. I am both a student/doctoral student and an employee at the University of Bonn and do not see the "Deutschlandsemesterticket" in the app.

To access the Deutschlandsemesterticket, you must log in with your student Uni-ID.

If you do not know your student Uni-ID, please send a scan of your identity card (front and back) with the request to send the login data by e-mail to the Identity Management Team at the University IT and Data Center (HRZ). You will then receive the data by e-mail.

    8. Can I export my Deutschlandsemesterticket to an external wallet app (for example, Apple Wallet or Google Wallet)?

Yes, semester tickets starting from winter semester 2024/25 can be exported to an external Wallet app.

Please note that the exported ticket may be displayed incorrectly in the Google Wallet app, which can lead to problems with control. We therefore recommend exporting the ticket to a third-party wallet app that supports the PKPass format. Such apps can be found in the Play Store.

To export the ticket, please follow the steps below:

    • Open the Uni Bonn app.
    • Click on "Wallet" in the lower navigation bar.
    • Scroll through the wallet until the ticket you want to export is displayed.
    • Scroll all the way down until you see the "Save to Wallet App" button.
    • Click on the "Save to Wallet App" button.
    • Follow the instructions of your external app to complete the export.

There is no obligation to use the Uni Bonn App.

As an alternative to the digital student ID you can print out a confirmation of enrolment yourself via the Student Service.

If you need an alternative to the digital "Deutschlandsemesterticket", please contact the Student Registry.
