Authentification for Institutes
To ensure secure access to online services, institutions can use central authentication via the Shibboleth Identity Provider.
For whom?
Status depending
All members of the University of Bonn are divided into the roles of students, employees and guests. Depending on the conditions of the provider, access is only granted to certain user groups.
What for?
Authentification
External access to electronic online services of publishers, internet portals for downloading resources or ordering hardware can be authenticated at separate university-specific conditions.
In addition, internal access to portals within the institution can also be authenticated.
How does it work?
A large number of online portals require authentication of users.
The Uni-ID and password are checked against the established authentication and authorisation systems in the HRZ and do not leave the University of Bonn. The attributes required by the service providers are only transferred after confirmation by the user. The confirmation is required once per provider.
In case of technical problems, please write an email to the HRZ at info-hrz@uni-bonn.de.
For questions regarding individual providers and licences, please contact the ULB at ebib@ulb.uni-bonn.de.
Status verification
It should be ensured that the users
- are members of the University of Bonn
- belong to the authorised user groups
- have certain authorisations for the services
- can use the University ID and the corresponding password for access.
Requirements
To meet the requirements, the University of Bonn participates in the authentication and authorisation infrastructure in the DFN (DFN-AAI), which simplifies access for authorised users in the scientific network and increases data protection when using the resources of DFN-AAI contract partners.
